literally: "added center construction" (Kroll 2015, 189-90, 507, 585); huagong which supports bracket-arms running both parallel (e.g. guazigong, linggong) and perpendicular (e.g. huagong, ang) to the building plane (Chen 2010, 257); also crisscross center or projection (Guo 2002, 50); "crisscross-heart" (Zuo 2019, 175).2
